Hinckley Township
Hinckley Township is one of the seventeen townships in Medina County, Ohio. It is five square miles, and contains 1,133 acres more than the conventional 16,000 acres, due to the amount of hills and valleys on its surface. It was identified as Township 4N Range 13W.
The township has become known across Ohio and the U.S. as the home of the buzzards. Every year on March 15, buzzards arrive in large flocks, as if following an exact biological clock. The town began celebrating the arrival of the birds in 1957, and today as many as 50,000 visitors come to the Hinckley Reservation on "Buzzard Day" to witness the return of the avian residents. The event is used to mark the beginning of spring for Hinckley and the surrounding towns.
