Bay Village is the westernmost community in Cuyahoga County along the shores of Lake Erie. Avon Lake is to the West, Rocky River to the East, and Westlake to the South. Bay Village split from the village of North Dover (now Westlake) in 1901 and became a city in 1950.

 There are 6,239 households in Bay Village and the total population is around 16,000. The median household income is about $70,400 with a per capita income of $35,500 per year.

Bay Village is strictly a residential community. There is no industry and practically no shopping other than a high-end grocery store. There have been restaurants added in the last 10 years. Other then Georgio’s Pizza, Arrabiatta’s Italian Restaurant opened a few years ago and a new restaurant, Vento la Trattoria opened in 2009.

 Each year Bay Village ranks high among the greater Cleveland communities in Cleveland Magazine ratings of the best local cities. City services are among the best providing maintenance and snow removal. The public school system ranks very high with over 90% of high school graduates going to college.

 There are two large parks in the center of town. The Cahoun family, with some restrictions of its use on Sundays, deeded Cahoun Park to the city. There is a hill for sleds in the winter and an area for sports in nicer weather. Huntington Park has a beach with piers for summer. There is a picnic area as well. Huntington Play House is also part of this park. Several plays are put on each year for local entertainment.
